Nicole Ari Parker (born Nicole Ari Parker) is an American actress, who is employed in the fields of film, television and theatre. The most famous of her roles is Teri Joe the fiery lawyer from the Showtime series Soul Food. Nikki Kodjoe became her stage name after her wedding. Contractor, who was born in Mumbai and was a resident of Nigeria over seven years was awash with cultural experiences and travels at the age of. She attended boarding schools at the age of 7 until 9 in London. After that, she and her family relocated home to Toronto (Canada) which is where they were raised for her entire life. She accepted a full-scholarship to attend the University of Toronto after graduating. There she earned her master's degree in theatre as well as a double major in social and psychology. Contractor was given the lead role in Pericles after a one-year stint in University. She auditioned for the role in the Stratford Shakespeare Festival (Ontario Canada) and was awarded. Her performance was lauded in the 92 plays she appeared in. She was awarded an award in 2002, which was awarded to the best production of the Year from Canadian Critics. She was invited to join Stratford's conservatory. This is a course that allows only four males and eight females can attend the 20-week crash program in classical theatre. The role was secured for Contractor in the next series of plays She was also offered Hermia's role in A Midsummer Night's Dream.
